Spring is here which means the warmer weather is right around the corner- finally! With this change, it’s a great time to get outside and enjoy the sun with your family- but when you are heading outside, don’t forget the furriest member of your family. There are plenty of fun spring activities that you can invite your pet along with so they can enjoy some fun too. Here are 5 things to do with your dog this spring that are active, engaging and fun for the whole family!

Wait! Before you head out into that sunshine remember that with the warmer weather, comes some of the not so fun parts of spring: dust, dirt and pollen. With the kids and your pets going in and out more often, be sure you are ready to clean up any messes that make it indoors with the new Swiffer heavy duty line of products. These new Swiffer heavy duty pet dusters, Dry and Wet Pet refills for your floor and Febreze AIR and FABRIC Heavy Duty Pet Odor Eliminator are the safe and effective way to clean your home this spring. The dusters help trap and lock dirt, dust, and pet dander quickly and safely so you can help to keep your allergies at bay and the added Febreze scents will make your home smell amazing!

These new pet-safe solutions from Febreze and Swiffer will leave your home paw-fectly clean and smelling fresh in no time. I try to dust more frequently in the spring, especially while our grass is coming back in. I feel like every time my pup goes outside, she brings in more dirt with her! I love how these Swiffer Heavy Duty Dusters can help me get rid of all of the yuck in a snap. After our outdoor adventures, I can use my Wet Jet to quickly get rid of any dirty or dusty paw prints on the floor, and one quick spray of the Febreze Air Heavy Duty Pet Odor Eliminator leaves my home smelling fresh and clean. Swiffer offers easy-to-use sweeping, mopping, and dusting cleaning tools for virtually every household surface you have. They’re quick and help you not sweat your pet so your family can spend less time worrying about the mess and more time playing with your favorite furry friend!

Like humans, dogs get spring fever, too. They’ve been stuck indoors during winter just like us– stuffed from holiday food, staying cozy on the couch, and dreaming of playing outside. Now that you have your cleaning essentials ready, it’s time to enjoy the warm weather together as a family!

Take a Walk

The warm, sunny weather of spring is perfect for walking. This is good for not only your dog’s health, but also your health. Take your dog on a 10 to 30 minute walk every day and don’t be afraid to increase the pace or discover new routes. Try a new path, or an old favorite.

Go swimming

Many dogs love spending time in the water. This is the perfect activity for a hot spring day! Whether you are near the beach or near a river, you can spend quality time splashing around with your dog. Check out your local pool too, sometimes they even have doggy swim days.

Visit your local doggy park

Spring begs for fun in the sun and on the newly grown grass. Try taking your pup to the dog park so they can catch up with their pawed pals while you do your own “Finally, it’s spring!” socializing.

Try Camping

Spring is a great time to introduce camping to your furry best friend. Find a pet-friendly campsites, take plenty of treats and make sure there’s room in the tent for everyone. The best part? You can camp all the way into fall, giving your dog (and family!) plenty of time to enjoy the great outdoors.

Give him an outdoor bath

Some dogs love baths and others hate them. Thankfully my pup is ok with tubs but she sure can make a mess! If you bathe your pup outside though – with a sprinkler, hose, or baby pool – they may be more cooperative and it will definitely make less of a mess. They may chase the water (especially if you use a sprinkler) and get clean in the process. Bring a bucket of soap and water (just like you’re washing a car) and try washing them with one of those big sponges. Try to keep them confined so they doesn’t run through mud or roll around in dirt and undo what you just cleaned. Washing your pup outside is a win-win for everyone- It allows your doggy to happily run and shake freely and prevents you from having a post-bath mess to clean.

So this spring, be sure to stock up on your favorite Swiffer heavy duty cleaning products from Petco so you can quickly tackle any pet messes so you can spend more time outside enjoying the sunshine and less time cleaning! I know we’ve already been loving the chance to take more walks and hikes with our family- and I’m pretty sure my dog loves it the most!

What is your favorite outdoor activity to do with your pet?
